This company is a copycat trying to sound like Bekins van lines and bot they almost got me but thanks to an estimator from another company I was spared a nightmare.
One star is waaaaaaaaay too much for this "company." At the risk of repeating the 57 reviews before me, every single thing about my experience with Beckens was a disaster. Like an IDIOT I called the "references" they provided rather than checking Yelp reviews, so to be fair, I shot my own damn self in the foot. This nightmare has been going on for almost two years now, so rather than make you all want to kill yourselves as much as I do over the details of this drama, I'll provide an example of one of the very very few responses I received from these dullards after multiple phone and email complaints about my missing and damaged items:
"In regard to the items coming to you in a different truck, It dose not show lack of management and professionalism what it dose show is that we are
trying to insure that we get the job done for our costumers and to make sure that you are getting your items in the time you requested. How ever we do understand that your items did not arrive to you in the manner that they were supposed to. It was a shame that your items were left that way and we will do everything that we can to rectify the problem. I just wanted to make sure that you know that we are doing are best to lactate you items and I have already sent out you damaged items to the claims department so we can get all of your paperwork started"
Needless to say, no claims for the missing and damaged items were ever processed (much less compensated), and my missing items were never lactated. Maybe when I eventually have a baby they'll magically appear out of my breasts when I'm feeding the kid as much bullshit as this company fed me.

They hounded me to get my business, calling me repeatedly until I agreed to go with them. They gave me a decent quote, but when the movers arrived, they said This is all so I clearly did not have very much to move. The movers that came had on shirts from a DIFFERENT COMPANY. They itemized my things and even though I had said originally for my quote that I had a china cabinet, they did not tell me that it would be extra to properly pack it. The mover told me it would and I was forced to fork over more money which I think ended up being an EXTRA tip that he just pocketed. When my stuff arrived in Oakland it came in a huge beat up graffiti's truck. The china cabinet glass had been broken!!. Then what really upset me was the most valuable item I had, a BOSE iPod speaker WAS STOLEN. It was the only item missing. I called several times a week for weeks on end and I was treated horribly. They kept telling me to call back. They NEVER called me & I never was compensated!
Beckensmoving gave my son-in-law a great telephone quote to move their household goods from California to Washington. He put a $734 deposit on his debit card based on the quote and received email confrimation of the order the same day. One hour later Beckensmoving sent a second email quote for less space and less weight for an additional cost of $335. He was not aware of the second email and called back to request an additional 50 cubic feet of space, for which he was told the cost would be minimal. When he called back two days later to confirm that he had enough space he received the sobering news that his quote was now almost $700 higher than he had originally been quoted. When he asked to cancel the order the location manager became verbally abusive and told him that he could cancel but he would not get his deposit back.
Based about what I have read about their incompetence as movers my daughter and son-in-law were probably fortunate that beckensmoving didn't lay grimy hands on their possessions. But bait and switch is just plain wrong and changing a quote within an hour of taking a client's money is theft. We are working with the bank to dispute the charges and I will contact the appropriate authorities in New York. If nothing else we will take them to Small Claims Court so they will have the choice of throwing in the towel or sending "Lefty", their longtime attorney across the country to defend the indefensible.
